Teletherapy

“All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”

Are you curious about teletherapy or virtual therapy services?

Teletherapy also known as online therapy or virtual video therapy enables clients to meet with their therapist conveniently and safely at a location of their choice via a HIPAA compliant video platform.

Who does MPS PLLC provide teletherapy services to?

MPS PLLC clinicians provide teletherapy services to:

Individuals who reside in Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland can be seen by MPS PLLC licensed clinicians. Additionally, many of our licensed staff are members of PSYPACT, an interstate compact that allows us to provide virtual services to individuals residing outside of the Washington, DC DMV area. How do therapy sessions work?

Teletherapy sessions work the same way as traditional therapy sessions, however instead of meeting your provider at their office location, both parties will meet virtually via a HIPAA compliant video platform. We utilize the HIPAA compliant version of Google Meet; which is accessible via an app you can download on your smartphone or via the Google platform on your computer. Your provider will send you a virtual meeting invitation prior to your scheduled session time. *It is important to be in a private space during scheduled therapy sessions. If you have difficulty finding a safe and quiet meeting spot, please speak to your clinician about alternative meeting options.*

Is teletherapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Similarly to in-person therapy the effectiveness of teletherapy depends on the individual(s), their reasons for seeking therapy, and their commitment to engage and practice the skills and recommendations taught and assigned in sessions. Research has concluded that teletherapy is as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy.

Benefits of teletherapy:

  • Flexibility and convenience
  • Convenience
  • Meeting in a known comfortable home or office location
