Dr. Sarah C. Arango
Sarah C. Arango, Ph.D., Post-Doctoral Resident in Psychology
Dr. Arango earned her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the APA-accredited program at The University of Texas at Austin. She also obtained a Master of Education and a Master of Arts in Psychological Counseling with a concentration in Latinx Mental Health from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Dr. Arango graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies, with a focus on LGBTQ+ Studies from George Mason University.
Dr. Arango is bilingual in Spanish and English and has lived in multiple countries. She values each clients’ cultural background and uses an authentic and collaborative approach in therapy. She also provides a space for clients to explore and process their experiences and helps them develop skills to navigate challenges and create lasting change.
Dr. Arango uses an integrated treatment approach, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Strengths-Based, and Multicultural approaches. In her work with couples, Dr. Arango utilizes the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy and has completed the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy Level I and Level II training.
Dr. Arango’s specific areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, identity exploration and social justice/multicultural concerns, adjustment difficulties, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, work/life balance, self-esteem, body image concerns, trauma, and stress management. Dr. Arango works out of both MPS PLLC office locations.
