Dr. Feven (pronunciation guidance: FAYE-vin) Fisseha earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the APA accredited program at American University in Washington, DC. In addition to earning her Master of Arts degree at American University, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Cornell University. Feven’s doctoral dissertation focused on first-generation college students’ experiences and responses to stressors.

Prior to completing her APA-accredited internship at The Catholic University of America Counseling Center, Feven had the privilege of providing 5+ years of therapy and assessments to diverse clients within community health, college counseling, private practice, and outpatient hospital settings in the greater DC Metropolitan area.

Feven currently works with adults (18+) and is integrative in her clinical approach to treatment. She incorporates cognitive-behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with relational and client centered strategies. Additionally, Feven has received training and provided Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for clients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Feven compassionately assists clients in meeting their goals while identifying the underlying causes of their initial concerns. Feven helps clients explore various aspects of their identity, relationships, cultural background(s), and systemic factors that affect their current presentation, values, and goals. She creates an authentic and empowering space to build a strong therapeutic relationship and enact collaborative change within her clients’ lives.

Her clinical interests include, but are not limited to: anxiety and related disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, grief & loss, trauma, life transitions/adjustment concerns, perfectionism, and acculturative stress. Feven is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
