Teletherapy Services
Teletherapy Services During COVID-19 & Beyond
MPS PLLC is dedicated to assisting our current and new clients via in-person or Teletherapy modalities. Teletherapy enables both new and established clients to work with clinicians conveniently and safely via a HIPAA compliant platform.
We are accepting new Teletherapy patients who reside in the state of Virginia, for individuals, couples and groups.
*Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, MPS is exclusively offering Teletherapy services. For your convenience, Teletherapy services will continue to be available after COVID restrictions are lifted.*
What is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy, also known as online therapy, e-therapy, or video therapy, is therapy delivered through a virtual platform via a computer, smart phone or tablet.
How Do Online Therapy Sessions Work?
Teletherapy sessions work the same way as traditional therapy sessions, however instead of meeting your provider at his/her office location, both parties will meet virtually via a HIPAA compliant video platform. MPS providers send clients a virtual meeting invitation prior to your scheduled session time.
Is Teletherapy as Effective as Face to Face Therapy?
Similarly to in-person therapy, the effectiveness of teletherapy depends on the individual(s), their reasons for seeking therapy, and their commitment to engage and practice the skills and recommendations taught and assigned in sessions. Overall, research has concluded that teletherapy is just as effective as traditional face-to-face therapy.
Benefits of Teletherapy for Patients
- Teletherapy can offer greater flexibility and convenience than traditional face-to-face therapy. Because oftentimes, face-to-face therapy sessions are offered during limited office hours, it makes it difficult for people to find a convenient meeting time.
- Teletherapy allows clients the ability to meet in a comfortable, known environment. The process of going to a new environment to meet with a therapist can be a stressful one. Teletherapy alleviates this stress by allowing clients to meet with their therapist in the comfort of his/her home or office location
