“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”

Do you feel like you are struggling alone? Are you curious to learn about other people’s experiences?

If so, group psychotherapy could help. Group therapy is a powerful form of therapy that consists of a limited number of participants who have related difficulties and similar treatment goals. It is often recommended alone or in conjunction with individual therapy. Depending on the nature of the problem you are coping with, group psychotherapy can be an ideal choice for helping you address your concerns and make positive life changes.

What should you expect from group therapy?

Group therapy involves 1-2 trained leaders and anywhere between 4-15 participants. Typically, groups meet for 1-2 hours per week and they can vary in session length, with most groups averaging between 60 and 90 minutes.

Some groups are designed to target a specific problem, such as depression, anxiety, attention deficits, anger, grief/loss, trauma, or life adjustments (divorce, separation, job/career changes). In addition, some groups are developed to help individuals share and process difficult emotions. The groups at MPS PLLC focus on providing participants with strategies for well being, and can include but are not limited to:

  • Skill building
  • Psychoeducation
  • Interpersonal or social skill development
  • Sharing personal experiences
  • Processing difficult emotions
